Roulette is a game with a wide variety of betting options and techniques. Players, usually up to eight, play against the dealer, who spins the roulette wheel and handles the wagers and payouts. In the European roulette and French roulette version, the wheel has 37 slots representing 36 numbers and one zero. In the USA most roulette wheels have two zeros and therefore 38 slots. Your payoff depends on the kind of bet you wish to set, and there are a huge variety of options. It's possible, for example, to bet on odd or even numbers, red or black (or the green "zero" slot), groups of numbers, and also columns and rows. Below is a short description of the kinds of bets you can place, as well as their payoffs: Solo - Bet on a single number on table. Payoff is 35:1.
Split - Bet on any two numbers on the table by placing your bet on the line between them. Payoff is 17: 1.
Corner - Bet on four numbers by placing your bet at their intersecting point. Payoff is 8:1. Street - Bet on a row of three numbers by placing your bet at the end of the row. Payoff is 11:1.
Line - Bet on two "streets" of numbers by placing your bet at the end of both rows, on the line between the rows. Payoff is 5:1.
Dozen - Bet on the "First 12," "Second 12," or "Third 12" numbers, as marked. Payoff is 2:1.
Column - Bet on a column of numbers by placing your bet in any of the three "2 to 1" boxes on the ends of the table. Payoff is 2:1.
High or low - Bet on the either the box marked "1 to 18" (low) or "19 to 36" (high). Recognize that the number 0 and 00 are excluded. Payoff is 1:1. Red or black - Bet on which color will come up. Zero does not count for either! Payoff is 1:1.
Odd or even - Bet on whether the number will be odd or even. Zero does not count for this one either! Payoff is 1:1.
